Ask which village a property is in before you ask anything else, and you'll usually know what you're walking into. Wilde Lake and Harper's Choice opened in the late 1960s and early '70s, so their tree canopies and foundation plantings have had fifty-plus years to mature, that's an asset worth designing around, not clearing out. River Hill, by contrast, is still a comparatively young landscape filling in. On top of that, most Columbia villages are governed by an HOA with its own architectural and landscaping standards, so a design that looks great on paper still has to clear the community's rules.
